Formal learning is a humbling point.

As planners, designers, executors, and basic caretakers of public and exclusive education systems, we are tasked with the overwhelming: conquer a kid’s natural propensity to play, rebel, and self-direct in hopes of providing them with a ‘great education and learning.’ Reading, creating, arithmetic, etc.

And this isn’t incorrect. This is great by nearly any step. Our intent is worthy, our effort amazing, and certainly the knowing of numerous children, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, is better than anything they could have had or else.

But there’s also a regrettable, darker side to official understanding procedures– especially when you crowd 800 in a college and 32 in a class and ‘hold educators answerable.’

This is a side that can be much more concerned keeping that liability than anything else– which means trainees liable to educators, teachers accountable to principals, principals liable to superintendents, superintendents answerable to state government agencies, and every person liable to lots of measures of ‘motivation’ and/or corrective activity.

The web outcome can be a learning environment where spontaneity, inquisitiveness, and learner self-direction are additional to just the right ‘research-based’ proficiency method to ‘relocate children to effectiveness’– and a critical loss of ‘childlishness’ of learning.
